Other antibodies of potential interest in paraneoplastic neurological syndromes

In addition to the antibodies described in the above list, there are other antibodies that have been described in patients with paraneoplastic neurological syndromes. Their potential value in the diagnosis or pathogenesis of PNS is less clear that in the previously described in more detail because they share some of the limitations defined below:

  1. The antigen is not known so immunoblotting on recombinant proteins is not available to confirm their specificities.
  2. The number of cases reported is very low
  3. The description of the associated neurological syndromes is poor
  4. The antibody has not been unambiguous identified among different studies.
  5. The frequency of the antibody in patients with cancer and no PNS or patients with other neurological syndromes is not well established.
