Dr. Francesc Graus was born in 1953 in Barcelona. Trained
in Neurology at CSU Bellvitge, Barcelona from 1977 to 1981 and in Neuro-Oncology
at MSKCC, New York from 1982 to 1985. He works since 1986 at the service
of Neurology of the Hospital Clinic. Barcelona. He described for the
first time the anti-Hu
antibodies in 1985. Since then, he has been active in the field of paraneoplastic
neurological disorders. His laboratory is a referral center for the
determination on onconeural antibodies.
Scientific Team
Francesc Graus MD, Albert Saiz MD, Carles Serra MD, Yolanda Blanco MD,
Lidia Sabater BSc, Mercé Bonastre and Eva Caballero lab technicians.
Research facilities
Immunohistochemistry and immunoblot techniques to detect onconeural
antibodies. RIA for VGCC
antibodies. PCR, RT-PCR, and gene cloning.
Areas of interest:
Correlation of clinical syndromes with immunological profiles and characterization
of new antibodies that may help in the diagnosis of these disorders
or in the identification of antigens that may be relevant in neuroscience
or tumor immunology.
