Dr. Guido Bertolini was born in 1964. He is the head of the Laboratory of Clinical Epidemiology at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research, Ranica (Bergamo) Italy, and coordinates the GiViTI group (Italian group for the evaluation of interventions in intensive care medicine). He is contract professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Bergamo, Italy.


The Mario Negri Institute has established in 1992 a Clinical Research Centre for Rare Diseases in Ranica (Bergamo). The centre is a non-profit foundation and receives grants from different sources. The foundation is organised as a facility for different services including clinical research for Rare Diseases, Information Centre for Rare Diseases, and European Centre for Rare Diseases.

Areas of interest
The general aim of the activities of the Laboratory of Clinical Epidemiology is to help physicians in using the available knowledge and resources at their best, and to play a role in the progress of knowledge useful for clinical practice. The Laboratory operates in the fields of intensive care medicine and rare diseases including paraneoplastic neurological disorders.
